Love thy enemy

These articles that I came across are making me go crazy because if they're true, I'll have to rethink how I cancel people, platforms, orgs, etc.

• Against Bluesky (and Blueskyism) - I came across this just as I was traveling to Puducherry. Gotta read it again carefully. But it talks about the need to persuade political opponents instead of working within echo chambers. And it talks about why one should remain on X (the dead version of Twitter). As someone who is tired of algorithms, I feel very weird about this argument.
• Dr Rahmat Tarikere’s Bahutva Karnataka is a cultural blueprint for social cohesion - This is a book review of a Kannada book about moving from "diversity" to "plurality". The five key requirements, as it states are: "coexistence, social interaction/intercourse, the ability to build formidable relationships with each other, and the capacity of these relationships to transform our surroundings, which in turn can throw open newer horizons for everyone". I can build formidable relationship with anyone, but I choose not to do it with people who are doing abhorrable things. Am I wrong?

Some nice reads

• Bindhu Ammini: The woman who entered Sabarimala and was forced to leave Kerala - Did you know who Bindhu was apart from the news about Sabarimala? This gives the political and social background of the person, portraying her as the feminist cultural leader she is.

Re-engage

• I had given a talk about "freedom" in FOSSMeet '24. I re-watched it this week to listen to my point about how when we speak about freedom we should not think only about the license of code. Watch it here. Don't comment on my hair.
